11/29/09 - 6 Days to Go!

There are only 6 more days until Race Day! BJ and the rest of Team Champion are all ready for the big race next weekend. I wanted to thank everyone that has donated to BJ's foundation so far and hopefully, we can continue to raise money up until the race. As most of you are probably aware, BJ has already eclipsed his goal of $5000.00 for this fundraiser, which is awesome! But there is no reason to stop there, so let's keep it going and raise as much money as possible!

11/16/09 - Race Day Will Be Here Soon

Hey everyone...Just wanted to give you all a quick update... BJ and the rest of Team Champion have been training hard for the up-coming run in Memphis! As I mentioned in my last post, BJ has chosen this 1/2 marathon as his next fundraiser for the Strike Out Leukemia Foundation. We have been training for about nine weeks now and as of this past weekend, we're up to 11 miles on our runs! BJ has been doing his training in the south Georgia heat, so I know he is going to breeze through the big run in Memphis. It is truly amazing to think of how far he has come so quickly. Not too many months ago, BJ was at UAB receiving a stem-cell transplant and in 3 weeks he will be running 13 miles! Just a few weeks ago, we were running 5 & 6 miles and BJ and I discussed if we had bitten of more than we could chew. But, as he always does, he has stayed the course and finishing this run seems completely realistic now. His recovery and resolve have really been inspiring!
